Introduce yourself and bring us into the world of Mason Mint Travel
Mason Mint Travel was born out of a lifelong love for adventure and a global mindset shaped by living in six countries and visiting over 50 destinations (and counting!) It’s been such a privilege to turn that passion into a career, helping clients create meaningful, unforgettable travel experiences. There’s something magical about knowing you’ve played a part in memories that families will cherish forever.

What trends have you been observing in travel recently?
Right now, it’s all about the remote and the undiscovered. While a classic “fly-and-flop” trip to a beach destination still has its charm, more of my clients are craving untouched islands and off-the-grid adventures. They want something different - places that feel truly special and unspoiled.

Concierge-style travel is also having a moment. If you’re investing time and money into a trip, you want it to be seamless. That means hard-to-get dinner reservations secured in advance, a private guide waiting to show you hidden gems, and every detail handled so you can just arrive and enjoy.

Post-pandemic, is there a style or type of travel that people are particularly interested in?
Absolutely. There’s a renewed confidence in planning ahead, which opens up doors to more unique and memorable experiences - like visiting the Komodo Islands or planning trips around seasonal events.

I’m also seeing a major comeback in cruising, especially expedition cruises. These journeys to more remote locations align perfectly with the current traveler mindset: meaningful, immersive, and just a little bit wild.

Which destinations do you feel are still undiscovered or underappreciated?
Antarctica, hands down. It’s otherworldly - with towering icebergs, surreal landscapes, and wildlife you’ll never forget. The adventure of reaching it by expedition ship adds to the mystique. If you go, don’t miss South Georgia. It’s home to the most spectacular penguin population, including the iconic King Penguins. And yes, you can even do the ultimate polar plunge!

Has travel, particularly for older adults, changed in its purpose and/or meaning over the years?
Definitely. Today, travel is about deeper connection - whether that’s to oneself, to loved ones, or to the communities and cultures you’re visiting. I’m noticing more multi-generational trips where the goal is to spend meaningful time together.

It’s not just about sightseeing - it’s about shared experiences, like shopping for ingredients with a local chef, then learning to cook a traditional dish together. It’s travel with heart and intention.

What is Mason Mint’s specialty? What kind of traveler do you typically Serve?
Mason Mint Travel specializes in bespoke, high-touch itineraries that are deeply personal and detail-oriented. My clients are curious, discerning travelers who value quality over quantity - they want immersive experiences, not just Instagram moments.

Whether it’s a solo wellness retreat, a family milestone trip, or an adventurous escape to a lesser-known corner of the world, travelers come to us for seamless planning, creative ideas, and the kind of access you can’t get from a search engine.

What is your own personal favorite trip or destination?
I recently returned from the Galápagos Islands to celebrate my parents’ 80th birthday. We sailed aboard Silversea’s Silver Origin, blending expedition-style exploring with luxury comfort, suitable for everyone from ages 14 to 80.

The islands are so pristinely protected, you truly feel like you’re discovering a lost world - think mini-Godzillas and blue-footed boobies. What made it even more special was how it brought our family together across generations. Each person could tailor their activities to their own pace but we reunited each evening to swap stories over a beautifully prepared meal. It was magic.

What is one place that every person should see at least once in their life?
Japan. It’s a place where tradition and innovation coexist in the most mesmerizing way. From the tranquility of ancient temples to the neon pulse of Tokyo’s streets, every moment feels like a revelation. The attention to detail, the reverence for nature, the artistry in everything from food to hospitality - it’s a masterclass in how to live with purpose and beauty.

Take part in a traditional tea ceremony, and you’ll see how mindfulness is woven into even the smallest gestures. Soak in an onsen surrounded by snow-capped mountains or forested hills, and you’ll understand the country’s deep connection to the natural world. Japan isn’t just a destination - it’s an experience that leaves a lasting imprint on the soul.
